Rachel Crowell Whitaker

Thomson, Georgia- Mrs. Rachel Crowell Whitaker, 94, entered into rest June 14, 2017.

Mrs. Whitaker was a native of Harlem, Georgia and the daughter of the late William Henry Crowell and the late Louise Tankersley Crowell. She lived in Camak, GA for many years before moving to Thomson, GA. Mrs. Whitaker was a homemaker, loved gardening, and attended Shiloh United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, James Frank Whitaker, Sr.; sons, Ronald J. Whitaker and James Frank Whitaker, Jr.; daughter, Carolyn Brewer; brothers, Otis Crowell, Lloyd Crowell, Howard Crowell, Henry Crowell, and William Crowell; and sister, Nell C. Hayes.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth M. Whitaker; daughter, Christine Taylor; grandchildren, Jennifer W. Newton (Preston), Jamie W. Sease (Joe), Chris Brewer (Charlene), Christi Brewer, and Travis Taylor; and great grandchildren, Whit Newton and Whitley Brewer; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 in the Westview Cemetery, Thomson, GA with the Rev. Robert Reese officiating.

The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the cemetery.
