Mr. Robert Sanders "Bo" Rhodes, 83 of Rhodes Circle, Tignall entered into rest on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at his residence which is part of the old Rhodes home place.
Mr. Rhodes, son of the late Albert S. and Lunelle Beard Rhodes was born and raised in the Beulah Community and graduated from Tignall High School in 1957. He retired from Bigelow Carpet Mills, Calhoun Falls as a shift supervisor and owner of Rhodes General Store. Mr. Rhodes served Wilkes County, his community, church and civic organizations in various capacities which include: Wilkes County District 4 commissioner, Wilkes County Board of Health, member and Deacon Emeritus of Beulah Baptist Church where he served he also served as Treasurer, Brotherhood Chairman, and member of Men's Adult Sunday School Class; Past Master of Hiram #51 F&AM and 50 year member, Past Worthy Patron of Booker Garrard OES, member of Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta, president of Granite City Shrine Club. In addition, he proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard for 34 years in the 1st Battalion 214th Field Artillery Division, retiring as MSGT. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sarah Frances Henderson and Patricia Mack; brothers, Albert S. Rhodes, Jr. and John Thomas Rhodes.
Survived by wife of 58 years, Doris Flynt Rhodes ; son, Robert Sanders Rhodes, Jr. and wife, Wanda of Tignall; brothers, C. Edward Rhodes and wife Edna and William J. Rhodes all of Tignall and sisters, Betty R. Reese of Washington and Barbara R. Oakley of Hampton, Ga; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rhodes of McDonough, Ga.; grandchildren; Robert S. "Trey" Rhodes, III and Ashley Scott.
Flowers are optional. Contributions may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, c/o Vera Harper, 3189 Delhi Rd., Tignall, Ga 30668 or the Shriners Hospital or Children.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 2pm at Beulah Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to during the visitation and funeral.
