Phil Davis
Thomson, Georgia - Mr. Phil Davis, 70, went to be with his Lord on July 17, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Davis was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, Georgia, the son of the late William Odell Davis and the late Mary Inez Hobbs Davis. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1966-1968 and received three Purple Heart medals. Mr. Davis worked for 12 years as a Quality Control Supervisor at Uniroyal and retired, after 34 years, as the manager of Thompson Gas & Oil Company. He enjoyed doing small construction projects in his spare time. Mr. Davis was a member of First United Methodist Church in Thomson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Davis and Wendell Davis, and two sisters, Barbara Shelton and Mary Frances Hyman.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Vicki McCarty Davis; children, Jennifer Welch (Felton) and Tiffany Daniel (Sonny); grandchildren, Mason Daniel, Daniel Welch, Zac Daniel, and Matthew Welch; two sisters, Doris Reese (Roy) and Phyllis Shedd (A.T.); and sister-in-law, Betty Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Thomson with Rev. Ronny Brannen officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home or friends may call at the residence, 187 Church Street, Thomson, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
