Peggy A. Tanner, 68, of Washington, Georgia, passed away November 14, 2020 after a battle with cancer. She transitioned to heaven while being surrounded by her family and close friends. Peggy was the wife of Jimmy Tanner for 36 years, mother to Ginny Bentley Thornton (Brett), and stepmother to Phil Tanner, Jason Tanner and Jennifer Sanders.

Peg, as she was known to most by, enjoyed gardening, camping with friends, NASCAR races, and animals of any type. She had a green thumb and loved being outside surrounded by her flowers.  She will be most remembered for her quick wit and spunky personality.

In addition to her husband, daughter, and step children, she is survived by four granddaughters, Delaney and Natalie Pearson of Milledgeville, GA,  Cassidy Barnett of Washington, and Bailee Thornton of Alpharetta, GA,  seven step grandchildren, one step great -grandchild, and a special adopted great granddaughter, Harlyn. She is also survived by her brothers, Ted Pettus (Mary) of Bloomsdale, MO, and Randall Pettus of Athens, GA. She will be missed dearly by her faithful companion, Buster Bo-Diddly, the Shih-Tzu.

Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter Brooke Bentley Pearson of Milledgeville, GA and her parents Sam & Claudelle Bonner and Coley Pettus of Washington, GA.

At her request, no service will be held. A private celebration of life will be held by her family, and her ashes will be buried at a later date.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Mallorysville Baptist Church in Tignall, GA.
