Mr. Paul Herman Johnson, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, on his 77th birthday, in Augusta, Georgia. Born to the late Roy and Leola Stamey Johnson on March 20, 1948, in Oglethorpe, Georgia, Paul's journey through life was marked by his kindness, his love for his family, and his passion for the open road and the great outdoors. Paul grew up in a bustling household with his four brothers, Revis, Doug, Gene, and Billy Johnson, all of whom predeceased him. His early years in Oglethorpe laid a strong foundation for the man he would become. Over two decades ago, Paul moved to Lincoln County from Auburn, Georgia, where he continued to build his life and legacy. A dedicated professional, Paul spent many years behind the wheel as a truck driver for Far West Trucking Company. His colleagues knew him as a reliable and skilled driver, someone who could be counted on in any situation. Beyond his work, Paul was also an excellent mechanic, a talent that allowed him to indulge in his love for working on vehicles. His hands were rarely clean, but his heart was always full as he tinkered with engines, bringing old cars back to life with his magic touch. Family was the cornerstone of Paul's life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children, Paula Allen (Rod) of Kentucky, Stacy Johnson of Lincolnton, and Misty Burnine (Michael) of Jefferson. His role as a grandfather was one he held with great pride, guiding and loving his grandchildren, Savanna McEntire, Cody Burnine, Hailey Parker, Bradley Bowen, and Stephanie Rodriguez. Paul was also blessed to see the joy of his great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Wrenley, Austin, Kye, Mateo, and Leo, who will carry his memory and stories forward. Those who knew Paul will remember him as the embodiment of kindness. His gentle demeanor, his willingness to lend a hand, and his ever-present smile were his trademarks. He was a man who spoke softly but left a profound impact on the hearts of those he encountered. As we bid farewell to Mr. Paul Herman Johnson, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey filled with love, hard work, and the open road. His spirit will continue to guide us, just as the North Star guides travelers in the night sky. Paul's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing that his journey continues, just on a different road.
