Mr. Paul Ancil Flanigan, of Sunrise Dr. entered into rest Wednesday, September 10 th at University Hospital, Augusta. He was 81 years old.
Mr. Flanigan, son of the late Robert E. "Ebb" and Mavis Holloway Flanigan, was a lifelong resident of Lincolnton. Following his service in the U.S. Army in the early 1950's, he married the former Lavilla Norman on November 14, 1955. He retired as a sales agent for Independent Life and worked with other insurance companies thereafter. During his career, he serviced clients in Lincoln, Wilkes, and Columbia Counties.
After retirement in insurance, he enjoyed attending any function that his grandchildren were involved in and still maintained his spirit for selling and loved seeing people in the community. He was a member of Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church where he was active in the Men's Sunday School Class, Choir and had served as Secretary for over 40 years. His family said that he consistently exemplified the principles of his faith and was a Christian role model to his children and grandchildren.
He had been a member of the Gideon's for 29 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Clay Patrick Flanigan on September 3, 1981, and brother, R. Everette Flanigan, Jr.

Grandchildren: Jacob Osborne, Patrick Pullum, Jena Pullum, Tyler Howard, Melaina Howard, and Levi Howard
Great- grandchildren: Lavilla Pullum, Israel Osborne, Lark Osborne, and Hunter Johnson

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12 th at 11 a.m. at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Members of the Brotherhood of Martins Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church along with the Wilkes-Lincoln Gideons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call at the residence of Mr & Mrs Hal Howard, Jr., 1058 Elberton Hwy or from 6p.m. until 8p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
