With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tony Nicholas Sheppard, 39, of Thomson, Georgia on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Nick was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a fiercely creative spirit. An artist at heart, he viewed the world through a lens of imagination, color, and possibility. He was unapologetically himself, embracing life on his own terms and encouraging others to do the same.
Few things brought Nick more happiness than Halloween. It was more than a holiday to him. It was a chance to create wonder, spark imagination, and bring a little magic into the world. He especially loved seeing the excitement in the eyes of children and took pride in creating memorable Halloween experiences that filled them with amazement. His passion for the season was contagious, and he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
An avid gamer, Nick, valued not only the games themselves but the friendships and memories they created. Whether he was exploring virtual worlds online, gathering around a table for a game of Dungeons & Dragons, or strategizing over a hand of Magic: The Gathering, he brought laughter, creativity, and camaraderie wherever he played. Those fortunate enough to share a game with him knew the experience was always better because he was there. His friends Brendon and David, along with countless others, will forever cherish the adventures, conversations, and unforgettable moments they shared.
In recent years, Nick discovered a deep satisfaction in growing his own food and nurturing life from the soil. He took pride in his harvest and appreciated simple pleasures, especially a homegrown tomato sandwich. He shared this hobby with his mother-in-law, with whom he enjoyed many long conversations. Though he may not have shared her enthusiasm for Red Devil or UGA football, he happily sat alongside her, knowing a batch of boiled peanuts was often part of the bargain. Those quiet moments of companionship, storytelling, and laughter became some of life's greatest pleasures.
Above all else, Nick loved his family. He cherished his role as a husband and father, and that devotion was woven into every part of his life. In the wake of his daughter's diagnosis, he fully embraced the role of protector and caregiver, often taking the night shift so his wife could rest. He always lit up when his mom arrived with homemade dressing and his Grandma Holloway's pecan pie. Though often a man of few words, he treasured the time spent with his father and brother, tinkering together in the shop and he enjoyed working on projects and going fishing with his dad.
Nick is survived by his wife, Amanda Sheppard; daughter, Autumn Sheppard; mother and step father, Kenneth and Barbara Holloway; father and step mother, Milton and Gail Sheppard; grandmother, Betty Holloway; sister, Brittney Lively and husband, Blake; half-brother, Michael Sheppard; half-sister, Shelby Chamblee and husband, Aaron; step sister, Keron Love; step brothers, Bert Boatright and Randy Boatright, as well as many family members and friends who will forever miss his presence and carry his memory forward.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar Cooper, Mary Cooper, Mary Sheppard, Leon Sheppard, Walter Holloway, and by his step sister, Artith Slantis and half-sister, Deaun McNair.
Though his time with us was far too short, Nick's creativity, authenticity, humor, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by embracing your own individuality, creating something meaningful, and celebrating the things that make life extraordinary. His wife and daughter would be deeply grateful to receive handwritten memories, stories, and notes from those who knew and loved him. They will be treasured as a source of comfort, laughter, and connection in the years to come.
These shared remembrances may be mailed to: Amanda Sheppard, 218 Brentwood Dr., Thomson, GA 30824
