NATHAN "NATE" RAINWATER Retired, Q. A. Engineer, BSRI -Savannah River Site Mr. Nathan "Nate" Rainwater of Thomson, Georgia /formerly of Grovetown, Georgia entered into rest following a brief illness with Medullary Thyroid Cancer on November 8, 2007 at Heartland Hospice. Nathan was a Baptist and has gone home to be with the Lord. Nathan was a devoted husband to his wife Patsy of 29 wonderful years, a loving and caring Daddy to Lisa Rainwater-Heavner (son in law "Joe", he called his son he never had) and a wonderful Papa to his two precious grandchildren, Jacob W. Rainwater-Heavner and Abbigayle Heavner. A native of Columbus, Georgia but spent most of his life in Texas and traveling while owning and operating Rainwater Trucking Company for many years. Nathan later entered the Nuclear field and traveled throughout the United States at various sites. He retired at Savannah River Site with the Bechtel Corporation. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Nate was an avid fisherman, hunter and marksman shooter. Nate loved the water and taking time to teach his grandchildren how to fish. Nate will be greatly missed for all that knew him. He was always willing to help his fellow man and eager to extend his knowledge of life. Survivors include: Patsy Rainwater of Thomson, Georgia. Daughter Lisa and son in law Joe Heavner of Richmond Hill, Georgia, one grandson: Jacob Wesley Rainwater-Heavner, one granddaughter Abbigayle Linzey Heavner of Richmond Hill, Georgia. Sister in law's Rebra Valentine, Judy Stewart from Shreveport, La., nephew Jerry Valentine, Jr and wife Jodi from W. Monroe, La. Two step-granddaughters: Stephanie and Alanna "Lani" Cavanaugh. A special adopted Mama, Mary Casteel of Thomson. Mr. Rainwater was preceded in death by his mother Nell Williams and Uncles, Walter and Jack Williams, and beloved mother in law, Virgiline Stewart of Shreveport, La. Special thanks to Rhonda Holberton, RN for the loving and kindness she showed Nate after only knowing him for a short time. She is our angel and a wonderful friend. Special thanks for all the prayers and support during this time. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 PM Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the funeral home.
