Nathan Olin Cliatt, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, in Augusta, GA, at the age of 78. Born on January 16, 1947, in Lincoln County, Georgia, Nathan's life was one marked by dedication, creativity, and a love for the natural world. Nathan was a proud 1965 graduate of Lincolnton High School, where he formed lifelong friendships. Following high school, he honorably served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era, stationed in Germany from 1966 to 1968. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After his military service, Nathan returned to his roots in Georgia and embarked on a career that would define much of his life. He retired from Cox Brothers Builders as a master carpenter. His work stands as a testament to his skill and attention to detail, with many homes and buildings across the region bearing the mark of his handy and creative touch. Nathan's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. Not only was he an avid woodworker, but his love for history often found him immersed in books and documentaries, eager to learn more about the past. Nature was Nathan's sanctuary; he found joy in the simplicity of tending to his plants and animals, and he was often found whistling along to bluegrass music while working in his garden. He is survived by his loving son, Cory Cliatt, and daughter-in-law, Bridgette, of Lincolnton. Nathan was a doting grandfather to his granddaughters, Savannah Murphy (Caleb) of Grovetown, Chloe Cliatt, and Emma Grace Cliatt, both of Lincolnton. His role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and his wisdom and laughter will be greatly missed by them. Nathan's legacy is one of love, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the beauty of the works he left behind. As we say goodbye to Nathan Olin Cliatt, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Beggs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
