MESENA, Ga. – Mrs. Nancy C. Thompson, 72, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at University Hospital, Augusta.

Mrs. Thompson was a lifelong resident of the Mesena Community and the daughter of the late Aubrey Harris Cheely and the late Velma Simons Cheely. She worked as a loan officer for many years with Knox Mortgage and retired from Regions Mortgage. Mrs. Thompson was a faithful and devoted member of Mesena United Methodist Church. She was also very active at Fountain Campground serving as past Secretary of Trustees. She enjoyed sewing, and bargain shopping at yard sales and flea markets. Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Lewellyn "Junior" Thompson.

Survivors include her sister, Laverne C. Shelton (Thomas) of Mesena; niece, Terrie S. Gribanow (David) of Dearing; nephew, Chris Shelton (Theresa) of Appling; great niece, AnneMarie Gribanow and great nephew, Aubrey Gribanow.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2018 at Mesena United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Camp officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
