Montine Land Dearing, Georgia - Mrs. Montine C. Bales Land, 91, of George McDuffie Rd. entered into rest January 7, 2013 at Doctor's Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Dann and Charles Land officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Land was born in Hancock County, Georgia and lived most of her life in McDuffie County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Ralph Chapman and the late Mattie Mae Rodgers Chapman. Mrs. Land was a faithful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Edward Bales and wife, Marie, Robert "Bobby" Bales and wife, Kathleen, Wayne Bales and wife, Patsy, all of Thomson, Patsy Bales Layton and husband, Ben of Wrens, Pete Bales and wife, Elaine of Dearing, and Hollis Land and wife, Carol of Thomson; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mrs. Land was preceded in death by her husbands, C. M. Bales and Connell Land; sons, Wallace Land and Clifford Bales; and grandsons, Jeffery Cooper and Keith Bales. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the funeral home. Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
