Monte Gene Ashcraft, Jr., 53, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on February 10, 2025.

He was born in Augusta, Georgia on September 29, 1971, and has lived in Thomson, Georgia all of this life, graduated from Thomson High School in 1990, attended Union Baptist Church.  He dedicated his life to serving his community and spent 10 years as a Firefighter/EMT for the McDuffie County Fire Rescue and Burke County EMA.  Monte spent 20 years with the McDuffie County Recreation Department as the Athletic Coordinator, where he later retired.  His greatest passion and achievement was working with children of all ages and being a positive influence on them.  He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and lifelong outdoorsman.  He loved being surrounded by family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents, Monte G. Ashcraft, Sr. and Patricia Perry Ashcraft and his granddaughter, Adalyn Hobbs.  His survivors include his devoted wife of 27 years, Teresa Ashcraft; his sons, Kyle Dillon, Matt Dillon (Courtney) and Jordan Hobbs (Kaylee); his daughter, Whitney Ashcraft; his grandchildren, Myles Price Landon Dillon, Aidan Dillon, Granger Stewart, Laken Dillon and Kendall Leatherman; and his best friend Ed Rogers and other extended family.

His visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and his Funeral Service, being officiated by Rev. Randall Whitaker, will be held at Union Baptist Church, 2743 Cedar Rock Road, Thomson, Georgia on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with the Interment to follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, Georgia.  Pallbearers for the service are Josh Land, Will Land, Christopher Hinton, Dakota Yarbrough, Matt Perry, Mark Perry, Jack Perry and Darien Cato, and honorary pallbearers are Mike Perry, Jr., Chris Cason, Gene Garland and Jonathan Rosier.
