Norwood, GA-Mr. Milton Free, 86, of Ridge Rd. entered into rest April 24, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Free was born in Cornelia, GA, and was the son of the late John Free and the late Mary Lou King Free. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during the Korean Conflict and retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service. Mr. Free moved to Norwood,GA 20 years ago and enjoyed raising cattle and farming. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church where he served as an Honorary Deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Edeltraud "Trudy" Free; son, Milton B. "Mickey" Free of Norwood, GA; daughters, Carmen Shealy of Martinez, GA, Diana Sims (Mike) of Aiken, SC; sister, Imogene Franklin (Charles) of Mt. Airy, GA; brothers, Benjamin Free of Norwood, GA, Dennis Free (Ruby) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Donald Free of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Chasta Goone (Jeremy), Tiffany Boyd (Robbie), Travis Free (Lauren), Keith Sims, Dylan Ward, Trevor Sims, Joshua Shealy; great grandchildren, Morgan Goone, Hannah Goone, Parker Boyd, Madison Boyd, Preston Boyd; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Free was preceded in death by his sister, Ellene Moore, son, Gary, and aunt, Maude King.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson with Rev. Bryant Neal officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta, GA with Military Honors.
It is the family's desire that memorial contributions be made to the Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive, Augusta, GA, 30909.
Friends may call the residence at 5000 Ridge Road, Norwood, GA or from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
