Mrs. Mildred Louise Dozier Tyler, 100 formerly of Tignall entered into rest on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 3pm at Independence Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

Mrs. Tyler, daughter of the late Benjamin S. and Mary Lou Cartledge Dozier was born on December 14, 1921 in the Woodlawn/ Leathersville area of Lincoln County. During her early childhood, she attended a one room school in Woodlawn located at Salem Baptist Church and went on to Lincolnton High School where she graduated with honors in 1937.

Soon afterwards, she married Herman Lindsey Tyler and they moved to Tignall where she resided most of her life. During her lifetime, she was employed at Almar Manufacturing, served as a bookkeeper for Dr Clayton and when in her fifties attended nursing school and became a LPN. Until retirement, she worked in Home Health Care.

She was a member of Independence Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher for 40 years and member of the Choir for a number of years. Her hobbies included crocheting and making quilts for her family members.

Mrs. Tyler lived a full life of almost 101 years most of which she was blessed with her independence, living at home with her dog, Charlie until age 97. Her strong constitution, and maybe a little stubbornness were big factors in the longevity of her life. It was only seven years ago that she was still driving and was determined to mow her own lawn at age 96.

She is survived by her sons, David Tyler and wife Judy and Allen Tyler and wife Faye; daughter-in-law, Kay Tyler all of Washington; grandchildren, Brian Tyler and wife Robin, Charles Tyler, Jr. and wife Andrea, Eric Tyler and wife Kayce, Greg Tyler and wife Gena, Bindy Tyler Horner and husband Brian; 12 great- grandchildren and good friend and neighbor Daisy Parker.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Independence Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Tyler, 715 Wheatley Rd. Washington, Ga. 30673.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. Tyler; son, Alex Tyler; grandson, Jeff Tyler; granddaughter, Sheryl Suzanne Tyler and siblings, Bill Dozier, Lindsey Dozier and Mary Edna Ferguson.

Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Mildred Tyler.
