Thomson, Georgia- Mr. Milas Bennett, 84, of Roy Reeves Rd., entered into rest December 23, 2015.

Mr. Bennett was born in Hemp, NC and was the son of the late Albert Lloyd Bennett, Sr. and the late Mae Lee Stone Bennett. He served in the U. S. Navy as a 3rd Class Gunners Mate on the U.S.S. Macon during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, Mr. Bennett moved to Thomson where he worked at Kingsley Mill as a Supply Manager until his retirement. He was a founding member of New Hope Baptist Church, served on the Pastor Search Committee and was a member of the Charles Hanshew Men's Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bennett was predeceased by his sisters, Genevee Hayden and Barbara Hailey.

Survivors include his brothers, David Bennett (Margaret) of Thomson, GA, and Albert Lloyd Bennett of Franklinton, NC; niece, Stacy King Hawkins of Thomson, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, The Gene Jones Family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2015 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tab Ansley, Payton Brooks, Porter Brooks, Allen Dye, Cliff Jones, Jason Jones, Guy Poss and Jamie Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Charles Hanshew Men's Sunday School Class.

Friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. David Bennett, 424 Lee Street, Thomson, GA or from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday prior to the service at New Hope Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1725, Augusta, GA 30903-1725.
