Joseph Michael "Mike" Guin, 71 passed away at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington on January 26, 2025.
Born in Wilkes County, Georgia, on July 26, 1953, to the late J.W. and Betty Jean Cato Guin, Mike was a lifelong resident of the Floral Hill Community, a place he deeply loved and where he established his roots. Mike began his working career at Royal Manufacturing before dedicating many years to managing Southern States Farm Supply in Washington and Lincolnton. Afterwards, he helped his sons in the paint and body repair business and recently operated Guin's Lawn Care. He had been a cattle farmer from his childhood until his final days. His love for music was reflected in his long-standing role as the pianist for Fishing Creek Baptist Church, where he served for over two decades. He also served his church as a deacon. Mike's musical talents also shone through as the pianist for the Down South Band, where he enjoyed sharing his passion for music with others. Even with his busy schedule, Mike made time for fishing, a pastime that allowed him to relax and connect with nature. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Brooks Guin; sons, Travis Guin and his wife Tara of Lincolnton, and Bryan Guin of Tignall; brothers, Matt Guin and his wife Beth of Lincolnton, Jay Guin and his wife Debra of Rayle, and Johnny Guin and his wife Beth of Tignall; grandchildren, Will Guin, Taylor Guin, Holden Guin, and Hadley Guin. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Trina Renea Guin.
Mike Guin lived a life that exemplified the values of hard work, faith, and family. His absence will be felt by many, but the memories of his warm smile, and the melodies he played will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 3pm at Fishing Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton.
