Michael Alan Russell

Michael Alan Russell entered into rest on March 11, 2024, in Lincolnton, GA.  An avid musician, Michael enjoyed playing guitar, plucking the bass, dabbling on the drums, and just generally creating music.  He especially loved jamming and rocking out with his son, Caden.  Michael had a natural talent for the arts and occasionally delved into painting, with many of his works displayed throughout his home.

He was well-respected within his line of work, serving the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice loyally and dutifully since 2017.  Prior to that, he worked with the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services, establishing himself within the community as wholly dedicated to the needs of local families. He earned a BA in Sociology from Augusta University, and utilized that educational foundation as a means to inform all practices within his life.

Michael never met a stranger, and he could make anyone feel at ease with his laid-back demeanor and jovial attitude.  He loved to be silly and could always effortlessly bring forth laughs and smiles to those around him.  He was kind, gentle, and deeply philosophical, and enjoyed the acquisition and exploration of knowledge and faith.  To know Michael was to love him.  Truly, he was deeply and boundlessly loved by all his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kristen, and son, Caden, of Lincolnton, GA; his mother and stepfather Kathie and Eddie Usry of Gibson, GA; his father and stepmother Aquila "Quillie" and Caroline Russell; his sister and brother-in-law Melissa and Barry Brown, and nephew Karter Brown, of Graniteville, SC; his sister Jenna Hood of Gibson, GA; his grandparents Gerald and Linda Wuchte of Martinez, GA; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, but especially his beloved cousin James Center of Aiken, SC; his father- and mother-in-law Ernie and Renee Guthrie of Lincolnton, GA; his sister-in-law Kayley Bannister of Lincolnton, GA; his father-in-law Joey Bannister of Savannah, GA; and many, many others who all loved him dearly.  He also loved and was beloved by the fur babies he leaves behind: Vinny, Ginger, and Maryanne.  To say he will be missed is a tremendous understatement.  The family requests your ongoing prayers for all affected by this loss.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the LCMHS Band Program, care of Mr. Joel Dukes, 200 B Charles Ward Elam Street, Lincolnton, GA 30817 to support the ongoing cultivation of music appreciation and education for Lincoln County's students.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 3 o'clock p.m. in the chapel at Beggs Funeral Home Thomson. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
