Mary Agnes Thigpen Garner, 98, Warrenton, Georgia, entered into rest on August 20, 2024.

She was born in Glascock County, Georgia on January 11, 1926, grew up in the Purvis Community and lived most of her life there.  Mary was Baptist by faith and a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.  She loved her Lord, serving in her Church and spending time with her family and friends.  Mary was a member of "Very Special People in Harlem, Georgia and the "Young at Heart.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, George W. Thigpen and Mary Lou Hobbs Thigpen; her husband, Forest L. Garner, Sr.; her son, Oliver Fred Garner; her brothers, Wyman Lee Thigpen, Samuel Andrew Thigpen, Olin Lamar Thigpen and Clemon Albert Thigpen; her sisters, Lucille Thigpen Richards, Annie Ree Thigpen Mauck and Georgia Beatie Reese; and her granddaughter, Kimberly Garner Lamb.  Her survivors include her sons, Forrest Garner, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia and Gary F. Garner (Kathy) of Oxford, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia.  Mary will lie in state on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 356 Mount Beulah Church Road, Warrenton, Georgia with her funeral service, being officiated by Rev. Mike Sutphin and Rev. Faye Burgamy, to follow at 11:00 a.m.  The interment will be in the church cemetery following the funeral service. Pallbearers for the service are the grandsons and nephews.
