Mary Lucy Moore

Mary Lucy McCall Moore, known affectionately as Mary Lucy by those who knew her best, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on December 10, 1933, in Tignall, Georgia, she remained a lifelong resident of Wilkes County, where she was a devoted homemaker.

Mary Lucy was the daughter of the late Elbert S. and Clyde Norman McCall. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Despite the profound losses of her husband, Emory J. "Pete" Moore, Sr., and her two sons, Michael Ray Moore and Gregory Tracy Moore, Mary Lucy's enduring strength and her capacity to love only grew stronger. Her sweet soul remained resilient and her life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. She is survived by her son, Emory J. "Pete" Moore, Jr. (Linda) ; her daughter, Karen Moore Burton (Bobby) of Elberton; and her adored grandchildren, Chris Moore (Cristi) of Athens, Brynn M. Rawlins (Chris) of Brooklet, and Dashia Moore Cox (Seth) of Woodstock, VT. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Joshua Moore, Sam Rawlins, Hunter Cox, Haleigh Cox Chynoweth (Tyler), Hayden Cox and Hinsley Cox who will carry the memory of her love forward. Mary Lucy was also preceded in death by her brother, Lewis "Buddy" McCall, and her sisters, Juanita Bradford and Mildred "Millie" Bohler. Those who knew Mary Lucy will remember her as the epitome of love. Her ability to make each person feel special, her unwavering support, and her infectious smile were some of the many qualities that defined her. She was a woman who, through her actions and words, demonstrated the beauty of giving and the joy of living a life centered around others. Mary Lucy's passing marks the end of an era, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she lived a full and beautiful life, marked by the love she gave and the love she received.
