Martha Beckum Homemaker DEARING, GA. - Mrs. Martha Louise Martin Beckum, 68, of Adair Road, SE, Dearing, Georgia died Friday, July 22, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Beckum was the daughter of the late Dozier and Rosa Cliatt Martin. She was a native of Augusta Georgia and had lived in McDuffie County for the past 27 years. A homemaker, Mrs. Beckum had worked in the deli at Jet Foods at Harlem. The family said she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 from the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryant Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Chapel Cemetery. Members of the McDuffie County Fire Service will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include her husband of 52 years Ray F. Beckum; sons Joseph Beckum and wife Rhonda, Augusta; Mark D. Beckum, Thomson; Robert Beckum and wife Penny, Dearing; sister, Christine Dickens, Harlem; and eight grandchildren: Brandon, Wesley, Heather, Adam, Brooke, Priscilla, Megan and Preston and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Beckum was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Jennifer Beckum and a brother, Odel Martin. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Beggs Funeral Home.
