Dr. Mario B. Marrero

Dr. Mario B. Marrero, 68, Evans, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on September 17, 2022.

Mario was born in Cuba on October 8, 1953, grew up in Cuba, came to the United States at the age of 13, became a naturalized citizen on November 18, 1976, and moved to the Columbia County area in 1998.  He graduated from high school, continued his higher education earning Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. Degrees, and worked as a professor at Augusta University.  Mario was catholic by faith and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Mario was preceded in death by his parents, Mario Conrado Marrero and Candida Llames Piornedo Marrero.  His survivors include his devoted wife of 42 years, Sylvia Marrero; his daughters, Amanda Shirley, Wendy Ouzts and Carol Vazquez; his sister, Mariam Weston; and his grandchildren, Melissa Foryan, Jessica Diamond, Natalie Shirley, Maria Shirley, Emma Shirley, Elizabeth Vazquez and Luis Vazquez.
