In Memory of Margaret Ann (Hatfield) Bradley

Margaret Ann (Hatfield) Bradley, deeply loved wife, mother, and grandmother, fought a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease until the age of 85. Maggie's bright eyes, feisty spirit, creativity, humor, and fierce devotion to her family and friends have inspired a rich legacy.

A resident of Greensboro, Georgia, for the past 24 years, Maggie was born in Louisville, Kentucky, to Vernon C. and Henrietta Ross (Lehr) Hatfield. She attended Atherton High School and Georgetown College, majoring in secretarial studies. An excellent student, Maggie was a cheerleader, a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, and a talented actor with the "Maskrafters" traveling drama troupe. Known for her authentic kindness and natural beauty, she was honored to serve as a Georgetown College Belle of the Blue Court member on two occasions.

After college, she returned to Louisville and managed the front office for a prominent local surgeon. She married Rex Lorraine Bradley on June 17, 1961, at St. Paul United Methodist Church (UMC) in the Highlands, around the corner from her childhood home and Lakeside. The newlyweds moved to Pennsylvania briefly before returning to suburban Louisville and later Oldham County, where they lived for decades and raised their daughter, Robin, and son, David.

Maggie, a proud and loving mom, volunteered regularly at countless school athletic and community events while managing her family's affairs, overseeing the construction of several homes, and breeding adorable Labrador retriever puppies. She used her artistic talents to create beautiful ceramics, cultivate spectacular gardens, and knit handmade sweaters, scarves, and hats that delighted hundreds of recipients. She sang in the Christ Church United Methodist choir, led her United Methodist Women's groups, and was the church's wedding coordinator.

As the Medical Center Coordinator for Jeffersontown Medical Center, Maggie was the first face many patients saw when they arrived for their appointments. She had a gift for welcoming everyone she encountered with a calm smile, making them feel seen and valued.

A natural athlete, Maggie always enjoyed playing tennis and golf with friends at Oldham County Country Club. Later, when she and Rex retired at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia, Maggie (never one to sit still longer than a few minutes) organized book clubs, trivia nights, food trains, and bocce ball leagues. A dog lover, she also rescued and adored two cool cats, Tina and Zippy.

Maggie's love for life lives on through her husband, Rex; her children, Robin Bradley Hansel (Scott) and David Christopher Bradley (Patti); and her precious grandchildren, Dylan Scott Hansel and Sophia Nicole Bradley. Maggie was greeted in heaven by her parents, V.C. and Ross; her only sibling, Sara Elizabeth Tindall; and her beloved grandson, Spencer Davis Bradley.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul UMC's parlor, 2000 Douglass Boulevard, Louisville, KY 40205. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
