Thomson, Georgia - Mary Louise Brown, 97, entered into rest July 20, 2012.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012 from the Resthaven Cemetery in Washington, Georgia with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating.
Louise was born February 24, 1915 to the parents of George Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Brown in Lincoln County. She was the oldest of six children. Shortly after her birth her parents moved to Wilkes County to a community called Lundberg. When she graduated from school she went to work for a Dr. Woods in Washington and found her calling to become a nurse.
She left Washington in 1941 and headed to Augusta, Ga. where she attended the school of nursing at University Hospital. She landed her first job with Dr. Phillip Mulherin and worked for him for twenty-five years as a pediatric nurse. Then she worked for Dr. George Echols and Dr. (Matthew Thomas) Howard as a pediatric nurse also until she retired at age 65.
She attended St. James Church for years until she joined Trinity on the Hill Church in 1986. She was a member of the Robert Taylor Sunday School Class and the Smith Sunday School Class where she served as president from 1998 to 1999.
She joined the Augusta Woman's Club in 1984 and served as club president from 1992-1994 and again in 2000-2002.
She was Corresponding Secretary from 2002-2004.She served on the Board of Trustees and her committees were Memorials, Ways and Means, Yearbook Committee and Tallulah Falls School. There is a silver award given annually in her name at Tallulah Falls School. She was a big worker in the AWC Annual Antique Fair held annually in Augusta. She also attended and encouraged all members to attend GFWC Georgia Institute held on the campus of the University of Georgia annually in August.
She is survived by her niece, Karyn Strickler and husband, Steve and her sister-in-law, Helen Brown and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
