Lorene Mayo, age 79, joined her heavenly father on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.  Lorene also known to many as meme, was a remarkable woman known for her kindness and dedication to her family.  Meme was a sweet, precious soul whose absence will be deeply felt by those who knew and loved her.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Lucy Williamson, in-laws, T.P. and Martha Mayo and granddaughter, Holly Treadway.  She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lawrence Mayo and by her children, Janet Clayton, Robert Turner (Glenn), Tammy Dees (Jake) and Thomas Mayo (Megan).  Lorene's greatest joy was being "Meme" or "Mama Rene" to her grandchildren, Kristen (Courtney), Brooke (Justin), Austin (Jennifer), Ross and Makayla.  She had seven great grandchildren that she loved also dearly and is also survived by her brother, Wayne Williamson (Sharon) and her sister, Kay Finney (Louis) and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the home of Jake and Tammy Dees, 645 Mayo Road, Norwood, Georgia, and a visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held in the New Providence Baptist Church, 5853 E. Cadley Road, Norwood, Georgia on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Lance Hallford officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers for the service are Britt Shedd, Dusty Williford, Sammy Simons, Jonathan Shelton, Charlie Shelton and Kevin Chamlee, and honorary pallbearers are John Finney and Matt Williamson.
