Lora Blasingame

Lora Blasingame, 95, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on July 21, 2024.

She was born in Belmont, Georgia on October 29, 1928, grew up in Belmont and lived in Thomson, since 1953.  Lora was a longtime active member of Thomson Methodist Church.  She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Piedmont College and taught the majority of her career in McDuffie County and enjoyed her career in teaching before her retirement.  Lora enjoyed her bridge clubs, "The Sunshine Club" and her "J.O.Y. Sunday School Class and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.

Lora was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence Bruce Blasingame; her parents, James Walter Lancaster, Sr. and Lena Lancaster; her son, Benjamin Bruce Blasingame; her daughter, Lee Ann Ferguson; her brothers, J. W. Lancaster, Jr., Jackson Lancaster and Willey Lancaster and her sisters, Frances Bails and Virginia Cook.  She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janie Kate Blasingame; her grandchildren, Marcus Ferguson, Mary Beth Dennison (Steven), Mollie Reid (Chris), Sarah Kate Baker (Kyle) and Clay Blasingame (Ashlyn) and seven great grandchildren.

Her Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia 30824, and her Graveside Service, being officiated by Rev. Charles Broome and Dr. Steve Dodson, will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, 2235 Washington Road, Thomson, Georgia 30824.  Pallbearers for the services are Charles Lancaster, Joe Lancaster, Joe Cook, Mike Cook, Steve Moon and Mark Lancaster.
