Crawfordville,  GA - Mrs. Lois Arrington Richards, 92, entered into rest April 6, 2015 at Warrenton Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Richards was born in McDuffie County, GA to the late George W. Arrington and the late Ruby Hobbs Arrington. She moved to Crawfordville at a young age and made her home as well as became very active in local politics. She served as the Taliaferro County Tax Commissioner for 24 years, served as the Taliaferro County Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for 4 years, served as the Taliaferro County Probate Judge for 8 years, and retired as the Mayor of Crawfordville. Mrs. Richards was also a member of the Crawfordville Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha R. Mayo and husband, Gus of Sharon, GA; son, George A. Richards and wife, Kendall of Crawfordville, GA; grandchildren, Chris Mayo, Marc Richards, Sharon Moss, Beth Easley and Wade Mayo; and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Richards and son, Harold Thomas Richards.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Boyd Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in the Crawfordville Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Reeves, Gordy Arrington, Frederick Arrington, John Richards, Marc Richards, Conrad Richards, Wade Mayo and Chris Mayo.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the funeral home.
