p>Lisa Ware Grimaud, 61 passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, in Athens, Georgia. Born on April 12, 1963, in the serene town of Ketchikan, Alaska, Lisa's early years were spent in the embrace of the Pacific Northwest. Her childhood was rooted in Washington, Georgia, where she attended Wilkes Academy and Washington Wilkes, forming lifelong friendships and memories. Lisa's formative years were further shaped by her time in Cashiers, North Carolina, where she graduated high school, before her family settled back in Tignall.
Lisa's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and music. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was tending to her daylilies, listening to her favorite country music, or playing the clarinet that she so adored. A natural equestrian, Lisa's love for riding horses was matched only by her passion for the outdoors and her cherished beach vacations. When she was young, she played softball, and this enthusiasm carried over into her later years as she continued to enjoy watching softball and baseball games.
She is survived by her husband, Benjie Grimaud; daughter, Nicole G. Land Chris) of Tignall; grandchildren, Juli Nunn and her husband Macon of Crawfordville, and Riley Grimaud; brother, S.A. "Alec" Ware, Jr., and his wife Paula of Cashiers, NC.
Lisa's life was a reflection of her heart: generous, vibrant, and full of love. Her kindness touched the lives of many, her spirit a gentle reminder of the goodness in the world. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories told, the music played, and the flowers that bloom each spring—a symbol of the beauty she brought into the world.
