Linda "Meme" Gobble Reese

Linda Gobble Reese, lovingly known as Meme, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Born on April 25, 1944 in Washington County, GA, Linda was a lifelong resident of Thomson, GA, where she cherished 60 years of marriage to her beloved husband, Robert "Bobby" Russell Reese.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Linda was the heart of her family. She treasured her time at "Meme's House" by the lake, where she enjoyed fishing with Bobby and creating lasting memories with her great-grandchildren. Linda's love for family gatherings was evident during Christmas celebrations, where she delighted in sharing stories, delicious meals, and making new memories.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Joe Gobble and Rebecca Strother Gobble, her son Robert Russell Reese, Jr., and her sisters Jane Reid and Amelia Harrison. She also mourned the loss of her grandsons Jeremy Hayes and Nick Reese.

Linda is survived by her husband, Robert Russell Reese, Sr.; her sister, Pat Thornton; her daughter, Donna Buffington; her son, Joe Buffington (Donna); and her grandchildren: Priscilla Morris (Jerry), Kelly Rich (Cody), Lacie McKellips (Jake), Adam Buffington, Kittie Cross, Rob Reese, and Megan Rutherford (Daniel). She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

A visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home in Thomson, GA, on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM. The funeral service, being officiated by Rev. Randall Whitaker, will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11 AM, also at Beggs Funeral Home. Pallbearers for the service are the grandsons and honorary pallbearers are the great grandchildren. A graveside service will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
