Linda Walker Anthony

Linda Walker Anthony, age 77, lost her courageous battle with cancer on January 30th, 2022, while at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Linda was born on October 23, 1944 to Arlin F Walker and Hilda Norman Walker of Lincoln County, Georgia.  She was a 1962 graduate of Lincolnton High School and moved to Washington, Georgia following her marriage to Edward Eugene Anthony, where they had one daughter, Amber. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.

Linda and Gene spent the next 59 years in Wilkes County. Together, they began one of the first boat dealerships in Georgia, Boat Hill Marine, where they employed many in the area during their 31 years of business. In addition to being a business woman, Linda became very involved in local organizations and hobbies.  She didn't just join groups, she threw herself in fully and became an indispensable member or leader.  Linda was a natural organizer and planner.

She was a lifetime member of Midway Methodist Church where she served in several roles.  She was an avid historian and family genealogist and researched, wrote and published newsletters and booklets on the history of Midway Methodist, Walker and Norman families, in addition to a community cookbook.  She was instrumental in helping to plan, organize and implement Walker and Norman reunions over the years.

An avid traveler, she visited every US state except Hawaii.  She also traveled throughout Europe, as well as trips to Canada, Central and South America and Africa.  She was an adventurer and never met a challenge she didn't conquer.  She loved to waterski, snow ski, hike, and boat.  Linda loved nature and spent much time working in her English style garden.  She also enjoyed bird watching at their home where they set up many different types of feeders.

Her greatest love was her family. She helped manage and maintain the homestead where she grew up.  All holidays were spent there with family, now topping thirty members.  She gathered all with good food, laughter and love. She will be greatly missed by her family and so many friends throughout the community.  She made life-long friends through her bridge club and Friday lunch group.  Her beautiful smile and genuine warmth have touched so many throughout her life.

Linda is survived by her husband, Edward Eugene Anthony, daughter, Amber (Anthony) Fox, son-in-law, Randolph Fox, brother, Nelson Walker, as well as her nieces and nephew.  She is preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte (Walker) Poss, her father, Arlin Walker, and her mother Hilda (Norman) Walker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 222 at 2pm at First United Methodist Church of Washington.  Attendees are then welcome to join the family for a committal service, graveside at Midway Methodist Church, Lincoln County.
