Lewis "Byrd" Rogers

Lewis "Byrd" Rogers, 79, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2025.

He was born in Washington, Georgia on September 4, 1945, grew up in Boneville and Wrens, Georgia, graduated from Wrens High School, furthered his education with some college and has lived most of his life in McDuffie County.  Byrd was Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church Thomson.  He retired in 2008 as a Supervisor with Thiele Kaolin. Byrd enjoyed fishing, hunting and yard work and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.

Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, John Lewis Rogers and Kate Clements Rogers; his sisters, Carolyn Cowart and Katie Hoats. His survivors include his devoted wife, Frances "Fran" Rogers; his daughter, Beth Powell (Chris); his son, Bryan Rogers (Meredith); his grandchildren, Mary Kate Kitchings (Steven), Jay Rosier, Madison Rogers and Gage Rogers and his great granddaughter, Janna Rosier.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Thomson with Dr. David Lambert officiating. The interment will follow the service in the Wrens Cemetery, Wrens, Georgia.  Pallbearers for the service are Henry Fluker, Ronnie Easler, Joey Purvis, Smith Dixon, Gage Rogers and Jay Rosier.  Honorary Pallbearers are the Wrens High School Class of 1963.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Thomson Vision Fund.
