Mr. Lewis Jackson Newsome, 82, of Warrenton, GA entered into rest Monday, August 24, 2020 at Augusta University Medical Center.

Mr. Newsome was the son of the late Elbert Newsome and the late Malinda McCoy Newsome. He played football for Warrenton High School and graduated in 1957. Mr. Newsome was the plant manager for Warrenton Rubber and retired as the owner and operator of Newsome Tech Supply. He enjoyed horses and cattle farming.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen H. Newsome; children, Michael Newsome of Augusta, GA, Cynthia Newsome Walker (Mark) of Danburg, GA, Charles Newsome (Dayra) of Appling, GA; sister, Edna Hobbs of Martinez, GA; grandchildren, Olivia Winn (Jordan), Jackson Lyons, Ford Walker, Wilkes Walker, Charles Newsome, Chris Newsome, Sue Ellen Florance, Joanna Dille; great grandchildren, Emmett Winn, Helen Winn, Thomas Winn.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Scruggs Cemetery  in Norwood, GA with Rev. Jessica Blackwood officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.

It is the family's desire that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.

Per CDC requirements the family will be observing social distancing and masks are requested. Due to the current national health concern, the family would appreciate all phone calls, cards, texts, and e-mails.
