Leon Horace Quarles

Mr. Leon Horace Quarles, 70 of Ponderosa Dr. , Thomson, Ga. entered into rest on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at his residence.

Leon, son of the late Johnie Blanchard Quarles and Maudie Ashmore Quarles was born in Lincoln County on February 13, 1952. He grew up in Lincolnton and graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1970. Afterwards, he began a career of 40 years in carpentry, construction and home remodeling until his health failed. He had resided in Thomson since 1987 was of the Baptist faith. His hobbies included hunting, dirt track racing and go cart racing.

He is survived by his wife Susan B. Quarles; daughter, Lucinda Quarles Imhof (John)  of Summerville, SC; son, Charles "Elvin" Quarles (Jennifer) of Abbeville, SC; children, Trish Williams (Zimmie) of North Carolina, Heather Willingham (Kyle) of Dearing, Tara Nelson (Michael) of Augusta; stepdaughter, Chrystal Wade of Augusta; siblings, Morale McKinzie of Lincolnton, Richard Quarles (Nettie) of Martinez, Cliett Quarles of Boneville; Stanley Quarles of Michigan and Jerry P. Quarles of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Rebecca Imhof , Madison Quarles, Brock Quarles, Justin Williams, Eric Wade, Diana Ray, Kimmie Nelson, Kattie Nelson, Cody Williams, Paige Bryant, Corina Wade, Brandon Daves; great- grandchildren, Bryer Sirmans, Cheveyo Williams, Jayce Wade, Mason Williams, Tabias Williams, and Jasper Williams; cherished friends, Beth Downs, Phillip and Carla Stevens, Randy Bryant, and Nellie Piatchek.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Buddy Quarles and Charlie Quarles.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 3pm at Lincolnton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 11am until 2:30pm at the funeral home. The family requests that everyone in attendance dress casual.
