Lanier "Lanny" Augustus Hightower, Jr.

Mr. Lanier Augustus "Lanny" Hightower, Jr. 66 of Lincolnton, Ga. entered into rest on Thursday, February 24, 2022, doing what he loved, being outdoors.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Reviere officiating along with Rev. Billy Pittman. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.

Born to the late Lanier A. Hightower, Sr. and the late Joyce Morris Hightower in Augusta, Ga. on October 3, 1955, Lanny grew up in the Lincolnton area. During his teenage years, he was known for the owning some of the fastest Road Runners that Mopar built at the time. After graduating from high school, he worked for Knox Rivers Construction, Reeves Construction, and McWhorter Logging where he was a foreman and heavy equipment operator. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed horseback riding and raising cattle. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, attending the auction, and telling random stories about life. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Lanny is preceded in death by his ex-wife, Rita Hightower. Others left to cherish his memory include his sister, Wanda Ree Hightower, his children; David Hightower (Brandi), Gail Saint, and Tonya Hawkins, grandchildren; Brian, Monica, Makynna, Chase, Alleya, Jessica, Meghan, and Marcus, four great grandchildren, other extended family, and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Smalley, Tal Poss, John Dean, Chase Saint, Len Glidewell, Jamey McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy McDaniel and Alan Kennedy.
