Mr. Leroy Lamont Lannae, Jr. 73 of Florence St., Lincolnton entered into rest on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his residence.
Son of the late Leroy Lamont, Sr. of Warden, IL and Frances Colley Johnson Lannae of Washington, GA, he was born on November 1, 1947 in Washington, Ga. He grew up in Washington, graduated from Washington Wilkes High in 1965 and attended Oxford College of Emory University (1965-1968) and West Georgia College (1968 to 1971) where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management Degree. After college, he served in the Georgia National Guard's transportation unit out of Augusta as a platoon leader and Sgt E6.
Soon after graduation, he formed Lannae Construction Company, a general contracting business specializing mainly in commercial building which he operated for almost four decades. Following retirement, he served as a project manager for J.W. Spratlin and Son.
He was a very interesting man and curious by nature. His interests included travel, playing bridge, photography, history, water and snow skiing, puzzles, golf and a passion for large construction projects.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Lannae; children, Beth Lannae Rainey and husband Russell of Evans, GA, Amy Lannae Broadnax and husband John of Athens, GA and Leroy Lamont " Trey" Lannae III and wife Joy of Lookout Mountain, Ga; stepdaughters, Robin Williams Shackleford and husband Ben of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Arthur and husband Al of Lincolnton; sister, Elizabeth "Libbie" Bowman of Washington, GA.; grandchildren, Kathryn Rainey, William Rainey, Ellis Broadnax, Mae Broadnax, Millie Lannae, Mary Sheppard Lannae, Isabel Shackleford, Ben Shackleford, John Shackleford, Hugh Arthur III and Ruby Cullars Arthur.
In addition to his wife, Cathy Lannae, he was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James V. Bowman.
Due to COVID, the family will be holding a private interment service with a celebration of life being planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
