Biography

Mr. Lamar Goolsby, 92, Double Branches Rd, died Thurs., Dec. 10, 2009 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, he was an active member of Double Branches Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and was also a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Goolsby was a retired carpenter and son of the late Maude Leroy and James Clarence Goolsby. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years , L. G. Goolsby, Daughter, Diane G. Walton and husband Larry; and Son, Larry Goolsby and wife Brenda. Grandchildren: Dan Walton and wife Adrea; Jonathan Goolsby and wife, Rachael of Evans; and LeAnn Walton of Augusta. Great Grandchild: Ethan Walton of Evans. Sisters: Dot G. Holloway of Lincolnton and Mary G. Fox of Augusta. Mr. Goolsby was preceded in death brothers Bill Goolsby, J. T. Goolsby and Harold Goolsby. Funeral services will be held 2PM, Sat. Dec. 12th , from Double Branches Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Etheridge and Dave Hinson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the residence or at the funeral home until the hour of service, then at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Double Branches Church Building and Cemetery funds c/o Barney Aycock, III, P O Box 602, Lincolnton, Ga 30817.
