Kenneth “Kenny” Trammell, age 67, of Lincolnton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the same community where he was born on November 12, 1958. He was known by all who loved him simply as Kenny, and his life was marked by steady devotion, hard work, and a selfless spirit that touched his family, his church, his coworkers, and his many friends.
Kenny was the son of the late Mary Lucious Jones and grew up in Lincolnton, where he graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1977. From an early age, he understood the value of responsibility and perseverance, and those qualities became the foundation of the life he built. Shortly after finishing school, he worked for R&W Auto Parts for a brief time before beginning what would become a remarkable 40-year career with Spratlin & Son Construction.
At Spratlin & Son, Kenny truly started at the bottom and worked his way to the top, eventually being promoted to Job Superintendent. He joined the company when it was a small local residential builder, and as the business grew into a premiere regional commercial contractor, he grew with it in skill, leadership, and reputation. He was proud of the many projects he helped bring to completion, and he took great satisfaction in seeing a job done well. Among the projects he worked on were Richard Russell State Park cabins, Barrow County Courthouse renovation, Wilkes County Courthouse and Addition, Jefferson County Recreation Facility, Cobb County Health Department and the Anderson Mental Health Center, which at the time was the largest project Spratlin & Son had ever undertaken. He was a valued leader with the company, and his work reflected the integrity and pride he brought to every assignment.
Kenny was also a faithful and active member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he gave his time and labor freely. He took great pride in helping with anything related to the building and grounds, and he and his mother even worked together to build out the fellowship building after it was erected. His service to the church was not limited to what could be seen, because it was rooted in a sincere love for his church family and a willingness to help wherever he was needed.
Above all else, Kenny was a devoted son. He cared for his mother with unwavering love and attention until her passing last September, and those who knew him understood that this was one of the deepest expressions of his character. He was selfless in the truest sense of the word, always putting the needs of others before his own and carrying his responsibilities with humility and grace. His loyalty to family was steady and unquestionable, and his life stood as a quiet but powerful example of devotion.
Kenny did not have much time for hobbies, but he enjoyed spending time with his friends at their Thursday Men’s Club meeting. He valued companionship, conversation, and the simple pleasure of being among people he trusted and enjoyed. Those moments, like so much of his life, were meaningful because they were genuine.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his dependable nature, and the kindness he showed in everyday life.
He is survived by his son, Kenney Thompson, Jr.; his companion and the love of his life, Doris “Dot” Hunter; “brother”, Jesse Wynn; grandchildren, Ta’Kya Thompson, Kalisa Thompson and Kenney Thompson; aunts, Sue Stephens and husband Tony of Augusta and Nazola Green and husband Johnny of N Augusta, SC
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 12 o'clock noon at Harmony Baptist Church with Pastor Freddie Neal officiating. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery beside his dear mother. Repast will follow in the church social hall.
The family would like to thank Hospice, Crawford & Breazeale and everyone that took part in caring for Kenny during his battle with cancer.
Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” Trammell.
