Mrs. Kathryn "Kay" Prater Robinson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, in Braselton, Georgia. A cherished member of her community, Kay's life was marked by grace, warmth, and a spirited Southern charm.
Born on August 9, 1940 to the late Fred and Frances Cullars Prater, Kay embodied the values and charm of her Southern roots. She was a proud graduate of Lincolnton High School and furthered her education at Tift College in Forsyth, Georgia, where she earned her degree in chemistry-an impressive accomplishment that reflected her intellect and determination.
Kay's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of Goshen Baptist Church in Lincolnton, nurturing her spiritual life and forming lifelong bonds within her church family. For over five decades, Kay made her home in Washington, Georgia. It was there that she and her beloved husband, Jerry Louis Robinson, Sr., built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams until his passing. A true Southern belle, Kay had a natural gift for entertaining. Her home was always a place of warmth and elegance, where friends and family gathered to celebrate life's moments, both big and small. As the owner of the Cross Eyed Cricket, her gift shop became a local treasure, and even after its doors closed, she remained the go-to advisor for those seeking the perfect engagement ring, combining her eye for beauty with her desire to help others create lasting memories.
Beyond her hobbies and business endeavors, Kay was known for her generosity and her spirited nature. She delighted in the finer things in life, from exquisite jewelry to stunning antiques, always adding a touch of bling wherever she went.
Above all else, Kay treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Louis Robinson; granddaughter, Mia Robinson; and great-granddaughter, Moxie Robinson. Her legacy also lives on through the memory of her late husband Jerry Louis Robinson, Sr.; daughter, Karen Robinson; and great-granddaughter, Marlowe Robinson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Goshen Baptist Church, 1236 Goshen Church Rd., Lincolnton, with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service in the church sanctuary.
Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Frances Kathryn "Kay" Robinson.
