Katherine Loretta Flemming Walters passed away surrounded by family on Monday, May 11, 2015 in Thomson, Georgia. She was born on August 9, 1925 in Birmingham, Alabama to Charles Clinton and Katherine Lambert Flemming. On November 28, 1946, she married Edward Eugene Walters of Birmingham, Alabama. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, where she attended daily Mass and remained an active parishioner throughout her life. Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Walters (February 19, 2001) and her grandson, Peter Christopher Molitor (March 7, 1992). She is survived by her children, Linda Walters Molitor (Michael), Barbara Walters McDavid (Samuel), Edward Eugene Walters, Jr., Patrick Alan Walters (Linda), Marian Walters Phillips (Alvah), Charles Joseph Walters (Heather), Mary Walters Westerfield (Charles), Katherine Walters Todd (Mark), Elizabeth Walters Edge (Steven), 27 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the many caregivers who assisted in caring for Katherine in her later years, especially Connie Cox, Ken Ramsey, Lonnie Hampton, Jodie Paul, Pearly Jackson, Lucia Hannah and Veronica Hamilton. Mrs. Walters served as a beacon of love to family and friends alike, and will be greatly missed. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and may Your perpetual light shine upon her.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 o'clock, a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father Jacob Almeter as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.
