Katheren Johnson Reese, 81, of Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was born on February 25, 1942, in Gibson, Georgia, grew up in the Panhandle community and lived most of her life in Thomson, McDuffie County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Johnson and Lillian Rogers Johnson and her siblings, Fay Johnson, Bob Johnson and Lorena Johnson.
Katheren worked for many years with Coca-Cola Company, serving as onsite vending support at many local factories, then later retired from Five Star Food Service as money room supervisor. She also worked at Thomson Company and Sophie's restaurant. Katheren was Methodist by faith and a member of Zoar Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking southern meals for her loved ones, and growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. For many years, Katheren organized southern gospel sings locally with her favorite band, the Sunny South Quartet.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy Reese, Keith Reese (Recy) and Kenan Reese (Julie); and her grandchildren, Samantha Madariaga (Rico), Ivie Reese, Lillian Reese and Vanessa Reese. In addition, to her nieces, nephews, cousins, she will also be dearly missed by her close friends and neighbors, Synthia and Arthur Benton.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Beggs Funeral Home, and her Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, officiated by Pastor Faye Burgamy, in the Chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at Zoar Methodist Church at 9889 Zoar Church Rd. Stapleton, GA 30823, immediately following the Celebration of Life.
