Judy Dianne (Young) Callaway

Judy Dianne Young Callaway, a cherished homemaker and lover of the outdoors, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, in her hometown of Washington, Georgia. Born on December 8, 1948, to Leslie and Helen Howard Young, Judy's life was a testament to the simple joys of nurturing family, tending to her garden, and caring for animals. Judy's early years in Washington were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family and the natural beauty of the Georgia landscape. Her passion for the outdoors was evident in her meticulous canning of vegetables from her own garden, a practice that not only fed her family but also brought them together in appreciation of the fruits of the earth. Throughout her life, Judy was a beacon of love and stability for her family. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Leslie and Helen Howard Young,  special friend, Sammy Lamar, her sons, Matthew and Mark Callaway, her brother, Joe Young, and sister, Patricia Andrews. Judy's survivors are her sons, Sam (Tonya) Callaway and Dennis (Paula) Callaway, who will forever hold dear the values and life lessons imparted by their mother; her brothers, Al Young, John Young, and Dan Young, who will miss her deeply, as will her adored grandson, Russell Callaway, who brought immense joy to her later years. A homemaker at heart, Judy's life was a reflection of her dedication to her family and her love for all living things. Her home was a haven for both people and animals, and her kindness left a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who knew her. Judy's departure from this world leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and the simple pleasures of life. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and traditions she passed down to her loved ones. Judy Dianne Young Callaway will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt her gentle touch in their lives.

A graveside service is planned for Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Lincolnton City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 – 1:00 on Wednesday prior to the service.
