Joseph Blanchek

Joe Blanchek, 66, formerly of Berwick, PA, now living in Savannah LakesVillage; McCormick, SC, died Saturday evening, June 11, 2011, after a lengthy battle with Acute Leukemia with his wife Jeanne Hontz Blanchek by his side. Born January 10, 1945, in Berwick, to the late Jenny Donzello Blanchek and John Blanchek of Berwick. Joe lovingly referred to as "Slow Joe" was a US Mail Carrier in Berwick Area for 40 years, retiring January of 2005. One of his past times was remembering and telling people the addresses of former residents on his mail routes. He is also a former long term member of Good Shepherd Lutheran, former member of the Berwick Golf Club, and current member at Lutheran Church by the Lake; McCormick, SC. Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Kristina H. Blanchek, in Palm Coast, FL; brothers, John (Jack) Blanchek, Berwick, PA and James Blanchek. His son Jamie Blanchek died in 1996. Funeral services will be held at Lutheran Church by the Lake in McCormick, SC Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Lutheran Church by the Lake, 100 Twelve Oaks; McCormick, SC 29835. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Berwick, Pa. at a later date to be announced.
