John W. Whitman
Thomson, Ga. - Mr. John Wayne Whitman, 70 of Idas Drive entered into rest December 21, 2009.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Stokes, Rev. Rodney Bishop and Tara Bishop officiating.
Mr. Whitman was born in Greene County but lived in Thomson most of his life. He served in the U. S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Whitman retired as a roofer and later worked at Burger King, Wendy's and McDonald's in maintenance. He was also a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Edwards Whitman of Thomson; daughters, Cherry Sweeney and husband Lee of Thomson, Missouri Ansley and husband Robbie of Dearing; step-son, Lee Blackburn of Thomson; brother, Bobby Whitman of Thomson; grandchildren, Edward Sweeney, Lee Sweeney, Jr., Khristen Ansley, Lilie Rose Ansley, Isiah Ansley, Kyle Blackburn and Savannah Blackburn.
The family will be at the home of Lee Blackburn 159 Pine Dale Drive, Thomson, Ga. , and will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
