THOMSON, GA – Mr. John Hatcher "Johnny" Sisson, Sr., 72, of Gordon Street, Thomson, GA entered into rest June 19, 2018.  He was the son of the late John Beazley Sisson and Mrs. Bennie Lee Hatcher Sisson.

Born in Washington, GA and living in Crawfordville, GA until age seven, he moved to Thomson and attended McDuffie County Schools.   Graduating from Thomson High School in 1963, he attended the University of Georgia obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry Science in 1967.  In 1975, he opened Sisson Realty & Timber Sales, a family business that has been in operation for 43 years.

Mr. Sisson was a member of the Thomson First United Methodist Church in Thomson where he taught the Men's Bible Class for 20 years.  Additionally, he was a former member of the Board of Directors of SunTrust Bank and currently was serving as the Chairman of the McDuffie County Board of Tax Assessors.  He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America organization and had served in the National Guard of the United States. He was an avid hunter and loved his granddaughter, Mary Bennett.

Survivors include his mother, Bennie Lee Hatcher Sisson of Thomson; daughter, Elizabeth Sisson Smith (Keith) of Allendale, SC; son, John Hatcher Sisson, Jr. (Lindsey) of Thomson; granddaughter, Mary Bennett Sisson; and sister, Sandra Thompson (Larry) of Thomson.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Ronny Brannen officiating.

It is the request of the family that memorial contributions be made to Thomson First United Methodist Church Building Fund, P O Box 8, Thomson, GA 30824 .
