John W. "Jack" Sisson, Jr.

Mr. John W. "Jack" Sisson, Jr., 86 of Evans, Ga. entered into rest on Monday, July 5, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Sisson, son of the late John W. and Margaret Arnold Sisson, was born on January 9, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland. Throughout his childhood, high school years and college, he played the trumpet in the band. Notably, he was a published author and also played the trumpet for the Washington Redskins. After graduating from college, he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. During his career with the federal government, he had the opportunity to meet many of our former Presidents and retired as Chief Probation Officer for the Federal Government. After living at the Outer Banks for many years, he relocated to the Augusta area where he had lived for the past 20 years. He served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in many ways including teaching Sunday School since age 16 and serving as a lay preacher. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. For many of us that didn't know him personally, our fondest memories of him were as the Santa Claus at Augusta Mall and many other places. Spending time being at the beach was his favorite pastime as he spent countless weeks at Myrtle Beach throughout the years with his second wife, Betty. His first wife, Elsie M. Sisson and his brother, David H. Sisson preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Betty Wells Morris Sisson; son, John W. Sisson, III of Atlanta; daughter, Dawn S. Bare and husband Darrell of Charleston, SC; stepchildren, W. Hal Morris, Jr. of Lincolnton and Sandra Morris Harvey and husband Randy of Evans; Goddaughter, Laura Lee Griner and husband Chip of Wrens; 11 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
