Thomson, GA. - Mr. John E. "Buster" Holbert, Jr., 58, of Idas Drive entered into rest January 11, 2018 at University Hospital-McDuffie.

Mr. Holbert was born in Greenville, SC to the late John E. Holbert, Sr. and the late Betty Massey Swaney. He moved to Thomson, GA in 1983 and retired from Rabun Lumber Company. Mr. Holbert enjoyed NASCAR, wrestling, fishing and was a Clemson Tiger football fan. He was a devoted husband and father. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Cathy Holbert. Mr. Holbert was a member of the Christian Faith Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Kay Holbert; son, Steve Holbert of New York; sister, Brenda Turner-Griffin; mother-in-law, Reba Edmonds and special friend, Larry Burns all of Thomson.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Reviere and Rev. Rodney Dunaway officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Christian Faith Church of Thomson, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
