John Thomas Hermes, 69, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on February 15, 2024.

John was born in Frankfurt, Germany on September 16, 1954, grew up in a military family, lived most of his life in Gering, Nebraska until he made his home in Thomson, Georgia in 2016.  He was Catholic by faith and enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching the news and spending time with his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Theresa Bell Hermes; his parents, Elmer Hermes and Utahna Joy Carrick Hermes and brother, Bill Hermes.  His survivors include his son, Andrew Hermes; his daughters, Joy Hermes, Sarah Revels (Justin) and Kaitlin Fruechting (Jeremy); his brothers, Jim Hermes (Donna) and Bob Hermes; his sisters, Terri Hermes, Kimberly McGill, Deb Carney (Mike) and Sue Burton; his grandchildren, Cameron Revels, Zachary Revels, Mattisen Revels, Benjamin Fruechting, Emma Fruechting and Katherine Fruechting.

His Memorial Mass will be held at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Beggs Funeral Home one hour before the Mass.
