Joanne (Parris) Hanson

Mrs. JoAnne Parris Hanson, 75, entered into rest January 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. JoAnne was born in Washington, GA to the late Marvin William Parris, Sr., and the late Hazel Godowns Parris. She was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and attended Thomson High School. After high school, she worked for many years at Hoover Treated Wood Products and Physicians Multispecialty Group. JoAnne enjoyed working and meeting new people. Throughout the different phases of her life, she worked for various local businesses and valued each friendship she made.

JoAnne's greatest accomplishment and most cherished task was being a mother to her four children and grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionally known as "GiGi" to most who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, listening to music, shopping, reading, and taking trips to the beach. JoAnne loved people and never met a stranger.

She was no stranger to trials and tribulations, but by her unwavering spirit and deep faith she handled each heartache with strength and grace. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church and the Joy Seekers Sunday School. Through the years she enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School, driving the bus for KidsQuest on Tuesdays, serving as a greeter, and volunteering at the front desk welcoming members and guests.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Gerald Arthur "Artie" Price, Jr., her beloved husband Charles Thomas Hanson, Sr. and her brothers, Marvin William Parris, Jr. and Kenneth Harley Parris. Survivors include her daughters, Candy Beggs (Keith) and Tonya Morris (Gene) of Thomson, GA, and her son Rodney Price (Karin) of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Jeri Lyn Richards (Will), Chase Beggs (Nicole), Chandler Price, Preston Price, Carrington Brooks (Payton) and Britlan Price; greatgrandchildren, Bennett Beggs, Camden Richards, Murray Catherine Beggs, Violet Price, Collins Richards, Hawes Beggs; sisters-in-law, Shari Parris and Pat Parris; nieces and nephews, Michael Parris, Shane Parris, Brooke Parris, and Amber Richards and many great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm, Saturday, February 1, 2025 in the atrium of the First Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life at 2 pm in the Church Sanctuary with Dr. David Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. If so desired, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church Vision Fund.

The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Augusta Oncology and Ayme Cranford and Madison Owens with Regency SouthernCare Hospice for all the care and love during this time.
