Mr. James "Jimmy" F. Whitaker, Jr., 73, of Glenn Stovall Drive, Thomson, GA entered into rest February 12, 2017 at University Hospital.

Mr. Whitaker was born in Augusta, GA, grew up in Camak, and graduated from Warren County High School in 1961. He served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam. Following his military service, Mr. Whitaker attended Augusta College and graduated with a degree in accounting. He worked as a special agent with the U. S. Treasury Department and retired with 30 years of service. He also served as an instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, as an Enrolled Agent and as Finance Director for McDuffie County for several years. He was a member of Thomson First United Methodist Church. Mr. Whitaker was predeceased by his father, James F. Whitaker, Sr.; brother, Ronald Whitaker; and a sister, Carolyn Brewer.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Mauldin Whitaker; daughters, Jennifer Newton (Preston), Jamie Sease (Joe); mother, Rachel Crowell Whitaker; grandson, Preston "Whit" Whitaker Newton and sister, Christine Taylor.

Graveside services will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Westview Cemetery with Rev. John Barnes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
