Jimmy Leon Tanner, 79, of Washington, Georgia passed away February 9, 2022 at his home. He was the son of the late Cleo and Lucy Bufford Tanner of Tignall, Georgia. Jimmy was preceded in death by his soulmate and wife of 36 years, Peggy P. Tanner, and daughter, Brooke Bentley Pearson. Jimmy is survived by sons Phillip L. Tanner, Jason M. Tanner and daughters Jennifer Smith- Sanders, and Ginny B. Thornton, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Gloria Harris (Layton), Thelma Arterburn, and sister-in-law, Ann Tanner, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed the most by his faithful companion, Buster, the Shih Tzu.

Jimmy spent his entire working life as a maintenance crew member. He worked at International Paper in Washington until its closure, and completed his career at Pilgrim's Pride in Elberton, GA. He could fix anything and was the family handyman. He and his late wife, Peg, enjoyed NASCAR races, camping with close friends, riding motorcycles, and spending countless hours outside under their gazebo. He was always ready for a good time and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Per his request, no funeral services will be held. His ashes will be mixed with his late wife's and buried later. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Mallorysville Baptist Church, Tignall, Georgia.
