James Oscar Meeks

Thomson, Georgia- Mr. James Oscar Meeks, 67, entered into rest September 13, 2017.

Mr. Meeks was born in Augusta, Georgia, but grew up in Warrenton, GA, the son of the late Eugene Meeks and Emmabel Cason Meeks.  He loved his country and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.  Mr. Meeks had worked at Uniroyal, was employed for 39 years with the City of Thomson and was the Chief Operator of the water treatment facility.  He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons and a member of Long Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Carolyn Phillips Meeks; son, James Scott Meeks (Dr. Drew Kohlhorst) of Chamblee, Ga; daughter, Chante' Wright (Richard) of Milledgeville, GA; sisters, Ann Newsome of Evans, GA and Judy Wingo of Hephzibah, GA; and sister-in-law, Ann P. Mason of Waleska, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Lambert officiating.  Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
